About Dr. Lila
Dr. Lila is a licensed minister, professional counselor, and certified sex therapist (CST). She holds a Doctorate of Philosophy degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Amridge University. Her dissertation examined “Sexual satisfaction in married Christian women with a history of childhood sexual abuse.” She is committed to increasing awareness of the implications of CSA in marriages. Her goal is to facilitate healing for those whose marriages have been impacted by childhood sexual trauma. Dr. Lila’s Master of Arts Degree in Counseling was obtained from Dallas Baptist University, and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Work was earned from Southern University A& M College. Her specialized sex therapy training was received at the Institute of Sexual Wholeness, Inc. in Atlanta, GA. She is certified in CASE (Christian Association of Sexual Educators) as a Covenant Lovers instructor.
Dr. Lila is the Director of Make a Better Marriage, a private mental health practice. She provides virtual therapeutic services for individuals in Texas, Georgia, and internationally. She is committed to providing a safe place for individuals to obtain resolutions of relational and sexual issues. She specializes in helping individuals find healing and restoration from the impact of trauma, sexual problems, infidelity, and stress. Her clients are navigated through the process of change by utilizing their pain as a catalyst for acquiring purpose, power, and healing. Her nonjudgmental holistic approach includes clinical and practical faith-based solutions.
Dr. Lila has co-founded several marriage and family ministries and has worked as a marriage coach, counselor, teacher, and mentor. She is an author, local and national keynote speaker, and panelist on issues pertaining to various mental health matters, including sexuality, marriage, and trauma. Recently launched is the “Making Love-Better” podcast in which she and her husband discuss various topics to help couples enhance the relational and sexual aspects of their marriage. Additionally, A Better Marriage Show appears on Roku television worldwide. Her Affirming the Father’s Gift, Reclaiming Sexuality book was released in 2019, and it can be purchased on Amazon.
Dr. Lila and her husband have been married for over 34 years and have four adult children.
